Jack and Egg return to Chinatown with the
jars of the Three Storms.
Story Summary
Facing off against the three
ape-like dwarves, Pete tosses two of them towards the horizon,
while the third escapes with one of the jars on the back of a
goatipede. Our heroes chase the creature down and retrieve the
jar, then head back to Chinatown.
At Egg's place, our heroes team up with the
Chang Sing and Miao Yin to prepare reinforcements for their
meeting with
Qiang Wu to hand over the jars and secure the release of Wang.
After receiving the ransom,
Qiang Wu welshes, setting the Wing Kong tong loose upon them and
refusing to release Wang. But Wang has been working at the ropes
that bind his hands and springs free to enter the fray. However,
the Wing Kong subdue the Chang Sing. Jack sicks Pete on
Qiang Wu, but the sorcerer simply puts the beast to sleep with a
spray of mist from his hand. Then
Qiang Wu resurrects the Three Storms from the jars...and one
final member joins the confrontation: Lo Pan, resurrected!

Didja Know?
The issues of this series did not have individual titles. I
chose the title "Bad
News Browns" based on a line of dialog from this issue.
Didja Notice?
The gun that Jack retrieves from the cab of his truck appears to
be the same
TEC-9 submachine gun he picked up in
Big Trouble in Little China.
On page 5, panel 5, notice that one of the gigantic humanoid
skulls on the landscape appears to have dried flesh still
clinging to it and even one shriveled eye in a socket.
Jack tells
Qiang Wu that the Midnight Road wasn't half as loopy as
Cleveland
at 1:00 A.M.
On page 13, Jack claims that
Qiang Wu stole his "wang" joke from him. Indeed, Jack made a
similar "wang" joke to
Qiang Wu in
"The Hell of the Midnight Road".
This issue offers something of an explanation of why Jack did
not kiss Gracie goodbye at the end of
Big Trouble in Little China,
in that the death of his one true love, Mrs. Burton #1, would always be his last kiss goodbye.
Upon his resurrection, Lo Pan states that he spent what felt
like an eternity in the Hell of Those Killed By Idiots.
Lo Pan says that his death at the hands of Jack Burton "really
pisses me off to no end!!" He spoke this same line in
Big Trouble in Little China.
